The Astro Logos Summer School will be held in
July and August, 2007. This unique
intense learning experience is a place where you
can deepen and sharpen your astrology through tutor-directed study and
lectures
combined with on-line interaction, enabling you to connect with other
like-minded students who are all exploring this deeper approach to charts.
Reading books can help and listening to lectures
can be useful. But the only way to learn astrology is by working closely with an
experienced professional tutor... and that is what this Summer School offers
you.
Our goal is to inspire students through a
programme of intensive learning and teaching excellence, while creating
an exciting yet supportive environment in which to experience astrology.
By the end of the summer of 2007 (or winter
if you are in the southern hemisphere) you should be able to confidently
and professionally know how to delineate an aspect in a horoscope.
So if you are interested in doing something for yourself this summer,
read on and find out about this exciting innovation.
Course emphasis and content
Have you ever wondered about the full implications of that Venus-Saturn
opposition in your chart? Has it puzzled you that you and your friend
both have a Moon-Pluto conjunction but they have both expressed
themselves so differently? How exactly is that T-square working for you?
This year's Summer School will focus on aspects of your chart (or the
chart of your friend or client) by engaging with the following:
Reading aspects
at a deeper level - How to understand and
talk about
an aspect
to clients or friends in an informed manner, what it means to have two planets
or luminaries joined together by an aspect with each planet in a
different house and sign.
How this
aspect may express itself from worst-case scenario to best-case
scenario from birth or shortly afterwards, through childhood,
adolescence, young adulthood and into present time.
How your history shapes the expression of the natal aspect.

How you can best use this information immediately for yourself to steer the ship of your
life in a more meaningful manner rather than
drifting around, uncertain of your own life needs.
You receive tuition through audio lectures sent to you as MP3 files plus
extensive handouts as well as the
Astro Logos Delineation Workbook
(164 pages) and you are given extensive feedback
on
your developing skills of delineating the aspects in a chart.
Who is able to enrol in the
Summer School?
The Summer School is designed for those students
with some basics of astrological education - knowledge of houses, signs,
planets - but who are seeking a great depth to their work. You must also
be at least twenty three years of age.
However, if you have enrolled and find
that you do not have the appropriate knowledge, you are still welcome to
receive the assignments and to read what other students are writing and
the feedback given as a way of helping you to broaden your astrological
understanding. If you want to consider the learning package to
prepare you for the
school, then click here.
What astrological
knowledge do I need to have before I enrol in the Summer School?
In order to gain the most from this form
of tuition, we require students to know the following:
* Basic meanings of the planets and luminaries.
* Basic meanings of the house and what it means to have a
planet/luminary in a natal house.
* The meanings of house rulerships - what it means to have a
planet/luminary in a natal house but ruling another house (or having its
ruling sign intercepted within another house).
* The meanings of interceptions.
* Essential dignities - what it means to have a planet in rulership or
exaltation (as well their opposite, in detriment or fall).
* The basic meanings of aspects
Size of class
Please note that course size is limited to twenty participants to allow
the tutor to offer input and support to each student in a one to one
manner. We therefore encourage early application to
ensure your place on this course.
Language - what level of English do I need to join the Summer
School?
All teaching for the Summer
Schools is in English. Applicants must satisfy themselves and the
organisers of the Summer School that their English is of a standard
high enough for them to be able to understand and follow arguments
written and presented in fluent English.
Practicalities
How does the Summer School work?
How long does it run? The Summer
School will run for for six weeks from July to August 2007
Materials.
Materials consist of audio lectures delivered on CD by Air Mail post and
the spiral-bound A4
Astro Logos Delineation Workbook
(164 pages) containing the
Myths of the Zodiac and the key planetary combinations.
Where do I go?
You study in the comfort of your own home
and connect with the tutor,
Darrelyn Gunzburg
(co-principal of Astro
Logos, author of Life After Grief: An Astrological Guide to Dealing
with Loss and author of the Studyshops,
Delineation: Unfolding the story
Within a Chart,
Living with Change:
The Astrology of Dealing with Crisis
and The Horoscope's Angles) by
email list discussion for the exclusive use of the Summer School
students. Our classes fit into your daily life - no matter what time
zone you are in.
What equipment do I need? You need a computer that can play a CD so you can listen to the lectures
(please note the lectures are MP3 format and will not play in a CD
player or your car sound system). You also need to be able to send and receive simple text-only
emails - from any location at any time - so you can participate fully in our
classes. There's no special software, no logging in through a browser,
no Web sites or HTML involved. You don't even need broadband or high
speed access.
Apart
from the parcel we post you to get you started, everything else from the
Summer School classroom arrives on your desk as regular emails. There are no specific
times that you must be online - you simply send in written work by a
particular day so you can receive feedback along with the rest of the
class. This allows you to work on the class
material at your convenience. It's the ideal way to take a class.
How does it work? The Summer School is
primarily an ongoing, intensive workshop.
The classes take place via the lectures you receive by post and the
special Summer School email list. When you register for a class,
you are given an address for the class list, exactly like an email
address, except that all mail sent to that address is automatically
forwarded to the tutor and all the other students in the class.
Most of the classes are structured around weekly assignments sent as a
PDF attachment.
At the beginning of each week, you will be advised as to what audio
lectures to listen to and Darrelyn (your tutor) will send you a short written exercise to
complete by the end of the week.
You then
complete the assignment and
send it to us via the email list.
This means that the tutor and all of the students in the class see all
of the completed assignments.
Darrelyn will then comment on and offer
feedback to each of you on how well the components of the
aspect have been understood and the effectiveness and impact this would
have on the client. This feedback is accessible to all students so all
students are able to learn from each other
and can ask questions about their own as well as other student’s work.
Even
though the email-list provides a degree of anonymity, students very
quickly feel part of the "class".
Often a sense of community forms and communication between students goes
on long after the school itself has ended. We encourage class members to
develop ongoing correspondence in which you can share your astrological
thinking.
Many
long-term friendships have been formed from intensives like these.
Class discussions about lessons, assignments, and writing in general
also take place on the email list. The more interaction among students, the
more valuable and enjoyable the class. We encourage students to keep
dialogue supportive and beneficial.

Logos like this? This is a
